PR & Media Coordinator

How you will make a difference

Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Communications, the PR & Media Coordinator drives public relations and media strategy for our clients including the management, creation and distribution of content while connecting our clients to reporters and publications in order to drive increased revenue, brand awareness, reputation and overall media exposure for the organization. They manage the digital voice and promote and protect the client’s reputation by executing strategies and plans for brand building, innovation, and promotion of corporate communications and corporate affairs initiatives. They set and measure the strategic goals and performance metrics for each client by creating content that gets attention and engages audiences.

What you will be doing

Public Relations and Media Strategy: 

  • Build relationships with key media contacts and identify opportunities to proactively pitch brand and corporate stories to media as appropriate
  • Manage day-to-day media relations/media requests for brand and corporate issues
  • Organize events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days and press tours
  • Source and manage speaking opportunities, awards and sponsorships
  • Prepare and supervise the production of publicity brochures, handouts, promotional videos, photographs, and multimedia programs; devising and coordination of photo opportunities to support PR and media initiatives  
  • Effectively “sell” press releases to media, communicates benefits to media outlet of accepting press releases
  • Liaise with key spokespeople and answer enquiries from media, individuals, and other organizations often via telephone and email.

    Branding Strategy:

    • Develop and implement both short- and long-term branding strategies that intertwine various techniques which will consistently meet or exceed planned objectives
    • Create and update content calendars for each client that addresses their individual goals and objectives with attention to branding, public relations and media activities on client retainers.

    Research:

    • Monitors publicity and conducts research to find out concerns and expectations of client stakeholders in order to create the media plan
    • Identify audience and appropriate formats for media and medium selections and understand how those selection will affect the target audience 

    Content Creation:

    • Administers preparation and dissemination of press releases and articles and coordinates media events
    • Directs the writing, editing and publishing of organizational publications
    • Creates content that is consistent and appropriately reflects client brand and standards, including public relations, media, owned content, and design elements. 
    • Develop the creation of written materials including press releases, Q&A, media standby statements, fact sheets, pitch letters, articles, case studies, newsletters and other collateral on brand and corporate issues as required.

    Metrics & Analytics:

    • Track and analyze media coverage 
    • Monitor the effectiveness of the implemented client strategy on a monthly basis and course correct to ensure strategy objectives are met.
    • Set KPIs and monitor the effectiveness of each implemented client strategy on a monthly basis and course correct to ensure strategy objectives are met.
    • Provide monthly reporting to the leadership team that analyzes each client’s statistics and provides recommendations

    Project Management:

    • Execute timelines on all client projects set by the Client Manager and Account Director
    • Communicate any issues that arise that affect project execution, timelines and deadlines
    • Track all hours by client and project

    What we require

    • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, English, Journalism, Marketing, Communication or another related field
    • 1+ experience in public relations, journalism or digital marketing role
    • Software Skills: ASANA, Agility PR/Meltwater, Canva, Photoshop, InDesign, Publisher, WordPress, Hubspot

    Digital Marketing Specialist

    How you will make a difference

    Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Communications, the Marketing Strategist drives online strategy, including the management, creation and distribution of content. They manage the digital voice of the client by creating content that increases a client’s sales, revenue, brand awareness and reputation. They set and measure the strategic goals and performance metrics for each client.

    What you will be doing

    Marketing Strategy:

    • Develop and implement both short- and long-term online marketing strategies that intertwine various techniques which will consistently meet or exceed planned objectives.
    • Execute the digital strategy including social media, SEO, SEM, mobile marketing, email-marketing, online banners, digital content, online marketing campaigns, Facebook Ads, Google Ads and target audience initiatives.
    • Use customer behaviour, insights and prior campaign results to develop new marketing strategies, assist clients in determining who their target marketing group, and implement the best strategies for targeting this group.
    • Develop pay-per-click marketing strategies for clients, specifically using Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Google Ads (search and display) and other platforms.
    • Create and update content calendars for each client that addresses their individual goals and objectives.
    • Write the digital strategy for media packages in collaboration with the Media Strategist.

    Content Creation:

    • Create content in collaboration with Coordinators and Content Assistants that is consistent and appropriately reflects client brand and standards and ensures that content is optimized for third-party search engines and tools.
    • Create and execute a social media engagement strategy in collaboration with other client team members, and actively engage with the online audience.
    • Procure or create jpegs, pdfs, videos, art, graphs, charts, thumbnail images and other design elements for social media content.

    Metrics & Analytics:

    • Set KPIs and monitor the effectiveness of each implemented client strategy on a monthly basis and course correct to ensure strategy objectives are met.
    • Provide monthly reporting to the leadership team that analyzes each client’s statistics and provides recommendations.

    What we require

    • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, English, Journalism, Marketing, Communication or another related field
    • Integrated marketing technology certificate
    • 1+ experience in social media management or digital marketing role

    Brand Strategist and Account Executive

    Reporting to the Director of Accounts, the Brand Strategist and Account Executive is the hustler that connects clients to reporters and publications in order to drive increased revenue, brand awareness, reputation and overall media exposure for the organization. Working closely with clients, they align company goals with brand strategy and oversee the representation of the organizational image to the client’s customers, shareholders and community. They are responsible for promoting and protecting the clients’ reputation by developing and executing strategies and plans for brand building, innovation, and promotion of corporate communications and corporate affairs initiatives.

    What you will be doing

    Media Strategy Creation:

    • Participate in discovery meeting with Chief Communication Strategist
    • Write the media strategy for the client including crating the agenda and executive team engagement
    • Develop an online communications strategy and collaborate with Media and Marketing teams to develop content
    • Coordinate with the Marketing team to create social media content in line with media strategy
    • Collaborate with marketing and subject matter experts in a timely manner to determine appropriate media responses

    Content and Executive Assistant

    As the Content & Executive Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting our CEO and working closely with the Content and Media teams to continue Durrell Communications’ success. Providing administrative support to the CEO, COO and Leadership Team, you will serve as a coordinator for public relations and content creation related activities to support the efforts of our Content and Media teams. 

    Reporting to the COO, you will be an integral part of daily operations and will thrive in a collaborative environment as an enthusiastic self-starter. 

    In this role, your responsibilities and duties will include, but are not limited to: 

    Content Creation

    • Working in collaboration with Account Executives and Coordinators, creates content that is consistent and appropriately reflects client brand and standards, including public relations, social media, digital marketing, and design elements. 
    • Schedules posts for social media channels using social media management tools, ensuring posts go out on time and contain all applicable tags according to strategy. 
    • Executes on engagement strategies for assigned clients under the direction of Account Executives. 
    • Monitors social media channels for engagement and alerts Account Manager to any concerns. 
    • Outlines, drafts and edits written materials to support the client’s strategy as directed by Account Managers and Executives, including emails, newsletters, blogs, articles, typically for publication on owned channels. 

    Reporting & Metrics

    • Assists in the creation of monthly reports by pulling social, website and media statistics.  
    • Produces weekly, monthly and quarterly and annual reports as needed on marketing efforts, statistics and results.
    • Collaborates with Account Managers to ensure desired results of produced materials in alignment with overall strategic communications plan.

    Executive Support

    • Provides executive support for the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Leadership Team.
    • Supports and coordinates meetings including scheduling, preparing, and distributing meeting materials, summarizing, analyzing and following up on issues.
    • Manages calendar of appointments.
    • Maintains digital filing systems and task management software.
    • Manages ordering of office supplies and printing materials. 
    • Manages incoming inquiries, including group inboxes, and forwards relevant communications onto the appropriate contact. 
    • Reviews incoming media inquiries and forwards as appropriate. 
    • Stays in tune with local and national news and trending topics, in turn informing the Leadership team and ensuring they are up-to-date on important news and events. 
    • Assists the Sales and Marketing team reaching Business Development goals.  
    • May also assist on client event planning and logistics. 

    Research 

    • Oversees the creation and updating of internal and external research resources. 
    • Maintains knowledge of legislation and best practices for social media, marketing and digital marketing.
    • Monitors clients’ online channels and conducts research to find out concerns and expectations of client stakeholders.
    • Assist with reputation management of clients by monitoring the internet and through the use of media tracking software for positive and negative comments on its brand, products and services. 

    Project Management 

    • Execute timelines on all client projects set by the Account Manager or Account Executive.
    • Communicate any issues that arise that affect project execution, timelines and deadlines.
    • Track all hours by client and project.

    Other duties 

    • Liaison and collaborate with all team members as needed and help provide creative solutions to communication problems. 
    • Help solve problems that affect the service and efficiency of client projects.

    Skills for Success

    • 1+ years experience working in a similar role. 
    • Previous marketing or administrative experience preferred. 
    • Superb attention to detail. 
    • Excellent writing, content development and editing skills including proper spelling, grammar and punctuation.
    • Detailed eye for graphic design.
